How Coaching Works
Every day, dminder runs a background evaluation of your vitamin D status, activity history, and goals. Based on what it finds, it may send you one coaching notification — never more. Quiet hours are always respected.
We'd rather send one useful notification than ten ignored ones. Each notification type has its own frequency cap so you'll never get nagged about the same thing day after day.
6 Types of Coaching
Each coaching notification is triggered by a specific signal in your data. Here's what dminder watches for and why.
Activity Gap
"It's been X days since your last vitamin D activity" — a gentle re-engagement nudge after a period of inactivity. Life gets busy; this brings you back.
Level Trend
"Your estimated D level dropped" — alerts you when your estimated blood level falls below the sufficiency threshold of 30 ng/mL. Early warning before deficiency sets in.
Goal Gap
"You've hit X% of your weekly goal" — a weekly check-in on your IU progress. Helps you course-correct before the week is over.
Streak Recognition
"7-day streak!" — celebrates consistency milestones at 7, 14, 30, 90, 180, and 365 days. Positive reinforcement for the habit you're building.
Seasonal Transition
"UV season is changing" — a heads-up when the vitamin D window opens or closes for your latitude. Helps you plan ahead for supplement needs or outdoor sessions.
Lab Timing
"Time for a blood test?" — reminds you after 90+ days since your last lab result. Regular testing calibrates your estimated level and catches real changes.
Achievements & Badges
Every sun session, supplement dose, and food entry moves you closer to unlocking badges. They're a visual record of how far you've come.

Track your vitamin D production over 7, 30, and 90-day windows. See whether you're trending up or down at a glance.

Respectful by Design
We built this coaching system for ourselves first. We hate notification spam too. Here's how we keep it useful without being obnoxious:
- Max 1 coaching notification per day — even if multiple triggers fire, you only get the most important one
- Per-category frequency caps — the same type of notification won't fire again for days or weeks
- Quiet hours respected — no notifications before 8 AM or after 9 PM
- Every type can be toggled off — don't care about streaks? Turn off streak notifications. The rest still work.
